The Kalgoorlie International Speedway held a practice, registration and open day on Sunday ready for there season starting on the 11th October. The day saw cars from juniors, productions, street stocks, AMCA's and formula 500's all turn some laps. The club has also welcomed new members.

The junior division is looking strong for the season with eight cars turning up and with more cars still to come out. Some of the drivers that were just blowing out the cob webs were Dylan Nollas, Charlie Cummin and Lauren Tinkler. While new comers Luke Barnwall and Mickayla Penn got familiar with driving their cars. Brittney Penn and Chelsea Usher tested out there new cars and Zac Penn has moved into his sisters old car.

Street Stocks has seen the return of Nathan "Wild Child" Powell, he will be one to watch once he has had a bit more seat time. Former junior driver Tom Cummin had his first drive in his new car putting in some consistent laps. Street Stocks welcomed new comer Brett McIntosh who looks to be very quick in Jamie Oldfield’s National Title and State Title winning car.

With the Production State title being held at the Kalgoorlie International Speedway this season, drivers will be looking at getting as much track time as possible. Sunday saw six productions take to the track with one new driver to the class. During the off season Ryan Huxtable has acquired a new car and is selling his old one to Jason Carter. Kevin Brewster was also out for a spin, but had a few mechanical problems and had to pack up early. Jason Johnson had a problem starting the car but once he had a push start the car was running fine and put in some good laps. Jeff Pahl also turned in some good laps.

Local Formula 500 driver Dean Terry's car was flying and looked great with the new colour scheme. There were two AMCA's out with Lionel Kirkby have a small drama with his car and Glen Florenza just shaking the dust of his car.

This Sunday the 28th October will see the final practice before the season opener.

Stay tuned to the website for some annoucements in the next couple of weeks.

The Kalgoorlie International Speedway is pleased to announce that Goldfields based company Kalgoorlie Case and Drill will be the new naming rights partner.

Kalgoorlie Case and Drill have been the sponsor of the World Series Sprintcars held in Kalgoorlie for the past two seasons and will continue that support this season as well. Lou and Ash are big supporters of speedway as they also sponsor a number of local cars.

"We were very happy that we were giving the chance to become the naming rights sponsor. This is a very big sponsorship for our company, in fact it’s the biggest we have ever done but the decision was made easier as we both enjoy the sport" said Ash.

"We get a lot of support from many of the people within the speedway club and this is a way of saying thankyou" continued Louie.

The clubs first meeting is on the 11th October for the Late Models and will run a support program. Gates will open at 5pm and with the green flag dropping at 7pm.

Case and Drill stock a range of products that covers safety equipment, drilling consumables, PVC/Poly pipe along with the fittings, nuts/bolts, fasteners, hose and fittings.

Saturday night sees the lights being turned on for the second time this season at the Kalgoorlie Case and Drill International Speedway. The night will see all the divisions fighting it out for club points and bragging rights. The nights program will feature Juniors, AMC's, Street Stocks, Productions and Sprintcars.

During the opening night two weeks ago the packed crowd was treated to spectacular wheel to wheel racing in the street stock division between Jack Barnewall, Evan Wakefield and Ben McIntosh. This week the competition will get tougher as more cars are due to hit the track, led by Nathan "Wild Child" Powell who dusted off in practice with quick laps.

With junior numbers due to hit double figures this week, there will be action aplenty from the up coming stars. Looking back at the form shown by all drivers in the first meeting it will be hard to pick a winner. Young Dylan Nollas, Brittney and Zac Penn maybe the experinced ones in the field but the rookies of Luke Barnewall, Jennifer and James Hawke were learning the craft of racing very quickley and should be at the pointy end soon.

The Production class will be out to prefect their setup and track knowledge ahead of the State Title. After having a horror weekend down at Ellenbrook current points leader Jeff Pahl will have a race against time to have his car ready, Ryan Huxtable and his immaculate Goldfields Crane car will be back out and looking to leap frog Jeff. More cars are expected to turn some laps as they had mechanical problems that provented them from racing a fortnight ago.

Sprintcars will be back out on track with Owen Ahchee, Greg Roberts and Brad Allabach looking to have sorted out the problems from the opening races last meeting.

AMCA's will also be out looking for their first championship points. After having a hole punched in the block during practice Lionel Kirkby has found an old engine to put in until his new motor arrives saying "that i will be out on track come Saturday night, but im not expecting to be a front runner". With Lionel looking to be off the pace that will leave the other locals of Carl Medler, Eddie Boeg and Glenn Florenza to fight it out for their first points of the season.

So make sure you get your backside trackside at the Kalgoorlie Case and Drill International Speedway this Saturday night.
Gates open from 5pm with racing starting at 7pm.
