Hey all...

Shaun's the name... (UZW15H)...

I drive a 1995 VS SS Series I 5.0litre Manual...

Currently call "Hell Hole" Sydney home... Am currently trying to put a plan into action to move to Kalgoorlie, but we are not finding it very easy to get help and or info... So not sure if this is going to go ahead but we are trying our best, and are really hoping and looking forward to getting into the Kal car and social scene and meeting you all as we loved the place when we passed through last year...

I do Motorsport, Landscape and Car Photoshoot photography and am also a Personal Trainer...

So yeah thats about it for me now...

Yeah we do to...

We just want to make sure we are going to be able to get work before we come over that is all...

Actually this might be a good place to ask...

Was just wondering if anyone here works in the mines or has contacts as this is what I am looking at doing but when I ring the mines they have been in NO WAY helpful at all... so if anyone here is able to help us out please PM me it is becoming really frustrating...

Thanks

Shaun

G'day mate,

Alot of people here work in the mining and mining support industry..

If your looking to get into the mines you'll need Marcsta (mine safety sleep course), MWHS (Mine workers health & safety - Audiometric and lung function), Police clearance, Be able to pass a piss test (drug and alc) and a full medical.. Thats before they even let you on site..

Are you a fitter or sparkie? Do you have a trade? A HR licence is also handy to have..

Work isnt hard to come by around here.. Especially if you've got a trade. What exactly are you planning on doing in the mines? Dumpy driver? Thats about all you'll get if your unexperienced and never been underground..

Good luck with it dude

:)

Yeah I have got advanced first aid cert, I am in the process of booking my MARCSTA and I have my LR license...

I was hoping to just personal train in Kalgoorlie as that is my profession but I have spoken to the gyms and they tell me that you wouldn't be able to make a living off personal training only so this has changed my game plan and I now plan to work in the mines and PT and photography on the side for some extra $$$'s...

I did also want to drive the dump trucks and that so that is my next option... But I do not want to go under ground open cut only !!!

The thing that sucks is that I am able to weld as I built my own trailer and all when we travelled Australia 6 months ago and I wire up all my own car stuff but I have no paperwork to say I can do it, and I am good at making and designing stuff but have no qualifications to support this..

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y97/holdenss5l/IMG_3119.jpg

So the things we have been trying to work out it rough pay rates...

Because we want to buy our own home when we get over there but to be able to do that we need a bit of an idea as to what we might be earning say for instance if I was driving the dump trucks... So if you know and are able to give us some idea of what we might expect to be earning ??

Also are you able to progress on to better jobs after the dump trucks through the mines in terms of do they offer training for people they think can go places...

Thanks

Shaun

That a very neat job you done on the trailer dude..

Just head to the federal hotel on a Friday afternoon and chat to people and you could be starting a new job on monday...

That easy some times.

As for money I'm not sure what truck drivers are on in open cut mines. I work underground. Much better!

I guess Perth would be better for you to look at.

It can be very expensive here in Kalgoorlie.
